Union Home Minister Amit Shah chaired a high-level meeting in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday, January 2, in New Delhi, to discuss security matters and other pertinent matters. Director IB Tapan Deka, Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Manoj Sinha, Army Chief Gen. Manoj Pande, National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval, and heads of state security agencies were among those present at the session.
The security review meeting with the home minister took on added importance in light of the recent attacks on security forces in Rajouri’s Poonch, where on December 21, 2018, militants opened fire on two army trucks, resulting in the deaths of four soldiers and the injuries of three more.
Meeting on J&K security situation with Home Ministry, LG, and Army commander
Tuesday’s discussion on the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir was presided over by Home Minister Amit Shah. According to authorities, talks took place about the state’s projected increase in violence in 2023 as well as the elimination of terrorists in the area. Terrorists from across the border attempted several times last year to enter Jammu & Kashmir covertly.
However, The Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, and top officials from intelligence and security agencies attended a meeting chaired by Home Minister Amit Shah. The meeting discussed the current security situation in Jammu and Kashmir, highlighting the rise in violence and attacks on security personnel. The uptick in violence can be attributed to elements from across the border attempting to revive terrorism in the region. Last year, 54 people, including 28 terrorists and 19 security personnel, were killed in three districts, with most of the victims trying to sneak into India.
Shah asks to step up counterterrorism operations in J&K
Shah, the UN Home Minister, has urged the complete elimination of the terror ecosystem in Jammu and Kashmir, urging the strengthening of counter-terrorism operations and the adoption of all necessary procedures for security agencies in these vulnerable areas.
At a high-level meeting that took place at the North Block here, the Home Minister assessed the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir and issued the directives. The conference was attended by top intelligence and security agency officials, Chief of Army Staff General Manoj Pande, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, and Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Manoj Sinha.
To eradicate the menace of terrorism, Shah reviewed the security agencies’ area domination strategy for Jammu and Kashmir during the meeting. He directed authorities to bolster counterterrorism efforts and emphasized the necessity of eliminating the terror ecosystem while examining the security grid’s operation and the state of general security in Jammu and Kashmir.
Amit Shah to evaluate the industrial policy and security situation in J&K today

The tenure of Block Development Councils is nearing its end, with election delays due to reservations for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes. The agenda will also include discussions on job creation, recruitment processes, and the J&K Industrial Policy, which has attracted investment proposals totaling nearly Rs 85,000 crore.
