After a failed Bollywood film debut, Chirag’s destiny drove him towards politics where he has exhibited himself as the true inheritor of his father’s political legacy.
In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the National Democratic Alliance secured a majority of 293 seats, with BJP becoming the largest party (240 seats). Telugu Desam Party and Janata Dal (United) have made significant contributions to the alliance as well, winning 16 and 12 seats respectively. But the most underrated party in the alliance was the Chirag Paswan led LJP. Chirag in his first Lok Sabha poll battle since his father’s demise in 2020 has performed surprisingly well in the elections.
With a 100 percent strike rate, he secured all 5 seats his party contended for – Hajipur, Samastipur, Vaishali, Jamui and Khagaria. Chirag won his father’s constituency of Hajipur with a significant margin, defeating RJD’s Shiva Chandra Ram. The Hajipur constituency is his late father Ram Vilas Paswan’s bastion. His late father had set a Guinness World Record of winning a parliamentary election with the highest margin of 4.24 lakh votes from Hajipur. Now, Chirag has proved himself capable of carrying his late father’s legacy.
Chirag’s inclination to NDA
Ram Vilas Paswan had already paved the way for Chirag’s ascension to the LJP throne when in 2014, he decided to rejoin NDA on Chirag’s advice. His advice came to fruition with winning six out of the seven seats it contested and emerged as the second largest party after BJP.
Chirag’s father suffering from a heart ailment wasted no time in initiating the transfer of power from himself to his son. Nonetheless, Chirag didn’t fail to impress his cheerleaders and lived up to the expectations of his father. In 2019, he again won from Jamui, reworking his father’s politics and joining NDA.
In the 2024 General Elections as well, the decision to join the NDA alliance has paid off to the party.

During the NDA meet hosted on friday, Chirag showed his dedication and his appreciation for PM Modi. He claimed that the opposition can’t even dare to reach out to him as I am the Hanuman of PM Modi. “My shraddha and my commitment is only for my Prime Minister. Opposition should know this.”
Praising the PM for his unfettered enthusiasm during election campaigns, he said “The credit for this goes to you. It was that willpower that helped in recording such a massive victory in history. It was not a normal thing that NDA kept getting such a big victory under the leadership of the Prime Minister for the third time in a row.”
“Because of you, today in front of the world we can proudly say that India has become the fifth-largest economy of the country,” he further said and added that the people of India have full faith in the Prime Minister.
He further declared his denouncement of ministerial post. “I have no interest in the ministerial post. My only goal is to strengthen PM Modi. I am not interested whether I get the ministerial post or not,” he added. He dismissed rumors of demand for a Cabinet berth and a Minister of State position in exchange for his party’s allegiance with the NDA.
