PM Modi has received a warm welcome from Dubai’s Crown Prince, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. He said that the close relations between the two countries provide an example of how to work together internationally.
PM Modi is on a two-day official visit to the UAE, where he will meet UAE Vice President Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and inaugurate the BAPS Mandir in Abu Dhabi. PM Modi and UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan held a bilateral meeting, exchanged several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs), and expressed gratitude for their warm welcome. Modi emphasized the joint partnership between India and the UAE in every field, highlighting the progress made in the last seven months. The visit is expected to be a significant step towards enhancing bilateral relations.
UAE: Burj Khalifa in Dubai welcomes PM Modi
PM Modi landed in Abu Dhabi earlier on Saturday for an official visit, marking the start of the final part of his two-nation tour. The Prime Minister arrived in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and was greeted ceremoniously at the airport. He then met Sheikh Khaled bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi.
PM Modi posted on Twitter, “Grateful to Crown Prince HH Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan for welcoming me at the airport today,” expressing his appreciation for the kind welcome to the Gulf state. The Prime Minister will discuss important bilateral matters with UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan during his visit.
Additionally, Modi’s photo was displayed at the Burj on Friday as part of a light and sound show that was organized to prepare for his official visit to the Gulf nation. The caption that followed the picture said, “Welcome Honorable Prime Minister Narendra Modi.” One of the most popular tourist destinations in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, is the Burj Khalifa, a skyscraper that leaps. PM will open the BAPS temple today
PM Modi will open the first Hindu temple in Abu Dhabi. He will next go to Doha to complete the second leg of his two-country tour.
As the prime minister spoke on Tuesday at the ‘Ahlan Modi’ event for the Indian diaspora at Zayed Sports Stadium in Abu Dhabi, he also brought up the opening of the Bochasanwasi Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha (BAPS) Hindu Mandir in the city.
“In 2015, when I presented to him (Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed) the proposal to build a temple in Abu Dhabi on behalf of all of you, he immediately said yes to it…now the time has come to inaugurate this grand (BAPS) temple,” Modi stated. PM Modi will meet with UAE Vice President Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum during his two-day official visit.
MOUs, CBSE Office and UPI among highlights
Besides, PM Modi and UAE President Al Nahyan held talks and exchanged Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) during their seventh visit to the UAE since 2015.
Modi highlighted India’s recognition for its large-scale infrastructure projects and the success of Digital India, stating that the world sees India as a global friend.
He announced the establishment of a new Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) office in Dubai and signed various agreements, including cooperation in Digital Infrastructure Projects, a protocol between the National Archives of both countries, collaboration in heritage and museums, and agreements on interlinking payment platforms like UPI (India) and AANI (UAE), as well as domestic debit/credit cards like RuPay (India) and JAYWAN (UAE).
‘Indian and UAE unity would continue,’ says PM Modi
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said both nations would keep up their strong collaboration for the benefit of the world on Sunday while sharing a video with highlights from his visit to the United Arab Emirates.
After posting a video of himself visiting significant events in the United Arab Emirates on Twitter on Sunday, Prime Minister Modi stated, “India and UAE will keep working closely to further global good.”
The UAE and India have partnered in the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), resulting in a significant increase in bilateral trade, with India becoming the UAE’s third-largest trading partner and India’s second-largest export destination. The agreement, signed in February 2022, has seen a 15% increase in bilateral trade. The UAE-India relations have witnessed significant progress during a joint statement issued by the leaders following the PM’s official visit to the Gulf nation.
