Todd’s LOVEly revelation on Joker 2
14th February, the day of love, witnessed a thunderbolt from director Todd Phillips’ social media account.
The american film-maker, celebrated for films like Maestro, The Hangover and Joker, unveiled Joker: Folie à Deux stills featuring Joaquin Phoenix and the flamboyant Lady Gaga.
This little peeping into the sequel of the iconic film Joker, amped up the love in the air as excited fans flooded the internet with their opinions, glee, expectation and admiration for the much awaited upcoming movie.
Phoenix and Gaga win Hearts
Philipps, taking to Instagram, shared three snapshots of Joaquin, captioning it with the words ‘Hope your day is full of love’
Phoenix carries on with his pivotal role of The Joker and Lady Gaga, who steps in to replace Margot Robbie as Harleen Quinzel, who is also known as Harley Quinn.
In the first shot, against a black backdrop, the actors can be seen contemplating solemnly, avoiding each other’s glance. Joker is standing in his classic look, in a maroon blazer as Quinn, in her blue dress stands with her eyes wide-open.
The second photo is a black and white zoomed snap of Gaga, lovingly regarding Joaqui, who seems to be behind the bars as their noses slightly graze. can be seen gazing into Joaquin’s eyes lovingly as he returns a barely-there smile.
The third portrait captures the two on a terrace, against a comical genre set as he dips her in an embrace. The monochrome picture exudes romance and elegance.
Fans are bewildered. Predict Plots
The release of these stills garnered appreciation and discussion among the audience worldwide.
Gaga zealots were delightfully treated on February 14th as they saw their idol drop shots of her making music and also glimpsing her in Todd’s post as Harley Quinn.
An enthralled fan wrote in all caps “We are so back. LG7. Joker 2,” . Another comment, sharing the same energy and sentiment read “Joker 2 stills and 3 studio pics in 2 hr i-,”
“gaga in the studio, joker 2 reveals, oh little monster era is back from dormancy.”remarked one of the other fan. A lot of them were left astonished at the unexpected surprise drop of the stills and commented that the have “prayed for times like this.”
Joker 2, is assumed to significantly go askew from its former film and get released as a musical. Fans hope that the two films are divorced from each other and portray and ‘completely different story packed into a lavish, over the top, campy musical.’
Joker: Folie à Deux – A Musical?
While the film, yet to be released, is still in the shrouds of mystery and not many details have surfaced, there is an ongoing suspicion that the movie is a musical set in and around Arkham Asylum.
It portrays the first rendez-vous between Joker and Harley. The film also has a wonderful supporting cast including Zazie Beetz, Catherine Keener, Jacob Lofland, Brendan Gleeson, Harry Lawtey et al.
Joker, the original film remains as one of the most acclaimed and appreciated films of all time in the history of cinema. The 2019 release, grossing $1 billion globally was the highest-grossing R rated film ever. Well-deservedly earning 11 Oscar nominations, including that of the best picture while the best actor award was cinched by Phoenix.
Joker: Folie à Deux is all set to be released on October 4 2024, making it the only DC Universe release of this year.
