Wipro announced on Friday that, as part of the company’s continuous transformation, Stephanie Trautman, the head of its Chief Growth Office (CGO), will retire on December 31, 2023.
The CGO was established by Thierry Delaporte, the managing director and chief executive officer of Wipro, as a dedicated division to pursue significant mergers. A small crew and Trautman were hired to run the office.
In order to reinvent our methods for handling big deals, account development, collaborations, and sales procedures—as well as to create a guide for creating strategic solutions for customers—we founded the Growth Office three years ago, according to Delaporte.
We were able to book big deals with unprecedented consistency thanks to the Growth Office. We are now moving the CGO’s evolution forward with this solid basis that has been established over the last three years, he stated.
By integrating this role into the SMUs, we can improve upon the procedures and strategies created by the CGO and bring this knowledgeable staff closer to customers and local sales teams. We will be able to find new growth prospects, improve our speed to market, and increase our deal-winning success rate with the aid of this integrated approach, according to Delaporte.
Wipro Reconstruction
The Strategic Pursuits team, which was formerly housed under the CGO, was integrated by Wipro into its strategic market units (SMUs). Americas 1, Americas 2, Europe, and APMEA (Asia Pacific Middle East & Africa) are the four SMUs that it has established. Europe and APMEA will be arranged by nations, whereas Americas 1 and 2 are arranged by sectors.
Delaporte will be in charge of the CGO’s remaining operations directly.
The restructuring takes place at the same time that the company is facing a decline in client discretionary spending, has provided subdued sequential revenue growth estimate for the third quarter that ended in December, ranging from -3.5 to -1.5 percent in constant currency.
Wipro CGO Resignation
One of the most well-known individuals Delaporte had employed was Stephanie Trautman, a Cincinnati, Ohio resident who was lured away from Accenture Plc. to become Wipro’s chief growth officer almost three years ago.
She submitted her resignation on Friday, as per Wipro’s regulatory statement.
Analysts and investors are concerned about a wave of senior management exits from India’s fourth-largest software services company, which includes Jatin Dalal, who quit as chief financial officer in September.
During the previous three years, eight of the 11 members of Wipro’s executive committee were hired. This board, the company’s highest executive decision-making body, included Trautman as well.
Given that the company had not secured a single mega-deal, contracts worth more than $1 billion, during the previous three years, Trautman’s position at the business was under investigation, according to two executives who were aware of the situation but asked to remain anonymous.
In fiscal year 2023–2024, which concluded the previous fiscal year with $11.16 billion in revenue, it is anticipated to experience a fall in revenue.
Given Wipro’s poor performance, particularly when compared to its bigger competitors Infosys Ltd. and HCL Technologies Ltd., as well as the departure of some of its top executives, some analysts are beginning to wonder about internal issues at Wipro and whether the CEO will stay in his position.
Wipro, an Indian multinational organization, is a provider of information technology, consulting, and business process services. It is stylized in lower case as Wipro. It is among the top Big Tech businesses.
The company offers clients in 167 countries a wide range of technology consulting services, including cloud computing, computer security, digital transformation, and robots, artificial intelligence, and data analytics.
Wipro divided its non-IT operations into Wipro Enterprises, a distinct entity, in 2012. These companies, which were mostly in the consumer care, lighting, furniture, hydraulics, water treatment, and medical diagnostics sectors, made up around 10% of Wipro’s overall sales prior to this demerger.
Wipro’s American international headquarters are located in Tower Center in East Brunswick, Middlesex County, New Jersey, and they opened in March 2023.
