Two constables, Amay Acharya and Narendra Parmar, who were on the Jaipur-Mumbai Express train when now-sacked Constable Chetan Singh allegedly shot and killed a senior colleague and three passengers, have been removed from service by the Railway Protection Force (RPF) for neglecting to perform their duties.
The constables were fired, according to an RPF official, for not carrying out their assigned duties and failing to safeguard the passengers during the event. The officer informed news agency ANI that during the shoot-out, the constables fled for their lives rather than intervening.
Case of Jaipur Mumbai Express Incident
Early on July 31, a fire broke out aboard the 12956 Jaipur Superfast Express train, which was traveling from Jaipur to Mumbai. Following the event, Chetan Singh, who opened fire aboard the Jaipur-Mumbai Superfast Express near Mumbai, killing four people, is currently incarcerated. Constables Amay Acharya and Narendra Parmar of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) have been let go in this instance. At the time of the event, both were on duty aboard the train.
The incident occurred while the four policemen were on duty escorting mail passenger trains from Mumbai to Surat. Chetan opened fire at a moving train near Palghar railway station and later stopped the train by pulling its chain near Mira Road station. After the train stopped, Chetan walked along the track towards Miraroad railway station and was caught with a rifle.
He has been in custody since then, and his lawyer claims that his mental condition is not stable. The incident highlights the ongoing tensions between the RPF and the public. Tuesday afternoon, Amay G. Acharya, 26, a 26-year-old RPF Constable posted in Mahalaxmi, Mumbai, recorded a statement in the FIR. Singh, who was detained on Monday and formally arrested in the evening, was remanded to police custody until August 7 on Tuesday afternoon. Singh was produced before a Borivali Court Magistrate and remanded to police custody until then.
2 other RPF officers fired for hate crimes on trains
Two constables from the Railway Protection Force (RPF) have been fired. On July 31, 2018, while traveling on the Jaipur-Mumbai Central Superfast Express, Constable Chetansinh Chaudhary was accused of shooting and killing a senior colleague as well as three passengers. S K S Rathod, senior divisional security commissioner, RPF, Mumbai Division, Western Railway, issued the dismissal orders for Constables Amay Acharya and Narendra Parmar on Friday, citing their “failure to discharge their duty”.
Chaudhary, a former RPF constable, is currently in Akola jail accused of killing three passengers, Abdul Kadar Mohamed Hussain Bhanpurawala, Syed Saifuddin, and Asgar Abbas Sheikh, and RPF Assistant Sub-Inspector Tikaram Meena. The accused constables, Chaudhary and Syed Saifuddin were dismissed due to their failure to provide security and protection to passengers.
The dismissal orders emphasized the risk of eroding trust among passengers and sending a negative message to other members of the force. Retaining the constables in the force despite their failure to discharge their duty would be fatal for the RPF.
