Hemant Soren, the former Chief Minister of Jharkhand who was arrested on Monday, asked the BJP to prove the corruption allegations against him, stating that he would resign from office if they were validated.
In response to a “conspiracy” concocted by the Center, the JMM executive president claimed that the Raj Bhavan played a key role in his detention during his participation in the assembly’s confidence motion proposed by his replacement, Champai Soren.
“I want proof of the allegations of corruption against me from the BJP.” Hemant Soren stated.
“If proven true, I will leave politics.”, he said in the Jharkhand Assembly during the floor test.
However, after Hemant Soren’s arrest by the Enforcement Directorate last week in connection with a money laundering case, Champai Soren, the head of the JMM parliamentary party, took the oath of office as Jharkhand’s chief minister on February 2.

Hemant Soren Gets Summoned By Probe Agency
According to official sources, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren received a new summons from the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Tuesday, demanding to be questioned in connection with a money-laundering case involving a purported land fraud.
According to the sources on Monday, Mr. Soren has been requested to appear in person at the federal agency’s headquarters here and have his statement recorded by the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
Additionally, the Enforcement Directorate in Jharkhand has issued a sixth notice to Mr. Soren, who has filed a petition before the Supreme Court seeking protection from the action. The investigation alleges a large mafia racket of illegal land ownership change. The agency has arrested 14 people, including Chhavi Ranjan, a former IAS officer and former director of the state social welfare department. Ranjan was questioned in a money-laundering case linked to illegal mining in the state.
What lies next for Jharkhand?
The Jharkhand Election Commission of India (ECI) has recommended Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s disqualification as an MLA. The news of this recommendation went viral. The announcement of ECI’s proposal to Governor Ramesh Bais caused a stir in political circles in Delhi as well as Jharkhand. The Governor has received their recommendation, according to ECI sources. At this point, the ball is in the governor’s court. The procedure for disqualification will start once he issues a notification.
Soren considering SC
Additionally, Hemant Soren is considering the possibility of filing a petition in the Supreme Court or Ranchi High Court to challenge his disqualification from the ECI.
However, courts typically do not usually pass stay orders on disqualification by ECI.
Thus, it is to be seen how the high-voltage drama in politics plays out.
