Agarwal Rushed to the Hospital
Mayank Agarwal, captain of the Karnataka Ranji Team, suffered from sickness on the about-to-take-off-flight after drinking some liquid he though was water. He was actively rushed to the Hospital in Agartala on 30th January, Tuesday.
The 32-year old cricketerwas riding on his success of leading his Karnataka Ranji Team to victory after they vanquished Tripura in the Ranji Trophy Group C Match by 29 Runs. The captain had scored 51 and 17 runs in his innings respectively in Agartala, scoring winning points for their team, on Monday, in Agartala.
‘Mystery’ liquid casues Mid-flight Sickness
As the team looked forward to locking horns with the Railways team in Surat, they boarded the flight to New-Delhi. Upon getting seated, Agarwal looked at the glass in front of him having a transparent-water like liquid.
Assuming it to be water, he drank a bit and in a while, he felt an irritation and burning sensation in his throat along with swelling and ulcers in the mouth.
Mayank Agarwal also experienced abdominal pain and a couple of vomits. As this uneasy feeling continued, the IndiGo flight had to return back to base.
Tripura Cricket Association official also reveals that they sent two of their representatives to the ILS Hospital to look after the ailing batter as soon as they reveived the news from the Karnataka State Cricket Association.
Currently, he is under observation and medically stable as the doctors are conducting some tests on him. The mystery of the trouble-causing liquid still remains unsolved as a number of theories surface.
Stable, yet Resting as Agarwal Skips next Match
The aviation company released a statement saying that the IndiGo flight 6E 5177, flying to Delhi from Agartala had to return due to an onboard ‘medical emergency’. The passenger was boarded off and taken to the hospital for medical treatment.
‘The aircraft took off again for its destination at 1620h,’ IndiGo team disclosed to the press.
The International cricketer, who has played 21 test matched for India is now out of danger. In the words of an official from (KSCA), ‘He is under observation in a hospital at Agartala.’
As soon as the doctors approve his health status, Agarwal will be flown back to Bengaluru, which is expected to be by the eve of 31st January,
Mayank, owing to his hampered fitness will not be playing the next match on February 2nd. Although his vitals are stable now he will be resting for some time until he’s fully fit.
Nikin Jose, the current vice-captain will fill the position of the Agarwal and lead the team into their next match as the Captain.
Manager Filed A Complaint
Kiran Kumar K, Superintendent of the West Tripura Police who wrote the complaint filed by Agarwal’s manager upon the hazardous incident said that the investigation for the matter is on and the complaint is also registered.
On the professional front, Mayank who hasn’t played for the National Test Team since March 2022 against Sri Lanka, is shining at the regional level as he scored two back to back centuries and a fifty. His team sits on the top of the leaderboard with 15 points in the Group C of the Ranji Match.
