For individuals to make their last respects, his body was stored at his Matunga home. Manohar Joshi, the former chief minister of Maharashtra and speaker of the Lok Sabha, was one of Shiv Sena founder Bal Thackeray’s most dependable advisers.
He passed away early on Friday at the age of 86. According to accounts, the ill Mr. Joshi passed away at Mumbai’s Hinduja Hospital at approximately three in the morning after suffering a heart attack. His home in Matunga housed his body so that others could pay their last respects. Later, Mr. Joshi’s burial took place in Dadar’s famous Shivaji Park, where he was cremated with full state honors.

Joshi passed away at 3 a.m. on Friday after being taken to the Intensive Care Unit at Hinduja Hospital on February 21 due to a cardiac arrest. From 1995 to 1999, Joshi, sometimes referred to as Joshi Sir, led the Shiv Sena as its first chief minister. From 2002 to 2005, he also served as Speaker of the Lok Sabha. From Mumbai’s esteemed Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute (VJTI), he received his degree as a civil engineer.
“We are grieved by Manohar Joshi’s death. He was an experienced leader who served the public for many years, taking on a variety of roles at the local, state, and federal levels. As Chief Minister of Maharashtra, he devoted his life to advancing the state. As a Union Minister, he also made notable achievements,” PM Modi said in a post on X. The prime minister went on to say that Joshi’s diligence as a lawmaker will go on.
“He worked to improve the vibrancy and participation of our parliamentary processes while serving as Speaker of the Lok Sabha. Having had the privilege of serving in all four legislatures, Manohar Joshi Ji will also be recognized for his dedication to the legislative branch. “Sincere regards to his loved ones and backers,” the post said.
