The man, who was from Hyderabad city, had reportedly been slain, according to reports that Owaisi received from the Indian Embassy in Moscow.
Hyderabad Man Duped into Fighting in the War in Ukraine
There has been the death of an Indian who fell for a ruse to fight alongside Russia against Ukraine. The Indian Embassy in Moscow announced Mohammed Asfan’s death on Wednesday in a post on X, but it did not provide an explanation or say what the Hyderabadi man was doing there.
The family of Afsan, one of over twenty Indians abducted to Russia under the guise of high-paying work, said that AIMIM chairman Asaduddin Owaisi notified them of his passing.
Last month, Mr. Owaisi was among the first to draw attention to the problem. The AIMIM leader said on February 21 that he had written to S Jaishankar, the minister of external affairs, regarding men from Telangana, Gujarat, Karnataka, Jammu and Kashmir, and Uttar Pradesh who had been duped in this way and were compelled to fight in the conflict.
At least 20 Indians who were detained in Russia had gotten in touch with Indian officials, according to the Ministry of External Affairs, which stated on February 29 that efforts were being made by the government to repatriate them.
Agent Faisal Khan, who operates the “Baba Vlogs” YouTube channel, is said to have deceived several of the guys who were imprisoned in Russia.
Khan is located in Dubai. In one of his videos, Khan displayed seven passports and stated, “We are working with the Russian army and seven people have received work permits for the country.” The channel has over three lakh members.
Seven more Indians forced to fight in Russia seek help
Seven other Indians who are stranded on the Russian-Ukrainian border have made two films this week pleading with the authorities to assist them in getting back to India.
Gagandeep Singh (24), Lovepreet Singh (24), Narain Singh (22), Gurpreet Singh (21), Gurpreet Singh (23), Harsh Kumar (20), and Abhishek Kumar (21) are the seven Indians that have been identified.
It is said that two of the workers are from Haryana and the other five are from Punjab. One of the guys said that they had entered Russia on tourist visas and that after being arrested by the police for not having a “slip,” they were compelled to enlist in the Russian Army as “helpers.”
We were informed that our duties would be limited to helping. However, they recruited us for armaments and ammunition training and are getting ready to dispatch us to Ukraine.
In a video posted on March 3, one of the guys, speaking Punjabi, stated, “They kept us hungry and stole our phones.”
He continued by saying that their sincere requests for assistance from the Russians had been met with silence. We are informed by the Russian Army that we may only go after a year. They want our assistance in winning the war. We have no idea how to assist them.
The man in his early 20s stated in the video, “If we don’t, we might not survive.”
In Hindi, one of the employees said, “We have already informed you of our predicament. Many Indians are stranded in Russia or Ukraine. We ask for assistance from the Indian government and embassy. They are sending us to the conflict zone in Ukraine, so this could be our final footage.”
