Following the arrests of Delhi CM, Arvind Kejriwal under a liquor policy case and Jharkhand CM, Hemant Soren in a land case, INDIA bloc has started a series of ‘mega’ rallies as an act of seeking justice.
After garnering a massive crowd at the first mega rally at Ramlila Maidan in Delhi, on Sunday, April 21, the second mega rally was hosted at Prabhat Tara Ground in Ranchi by its member party, JMM. Titled as ‘Ulgulan Nyaya’ mega rally, it primarily focused at seeking a tribal audience and a show of strength of INDIA bloc party members against the injustices done by BJP, especially the arrest of Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren.
Key Highlights of the INDIA bloc ‘mega’ rally
At the rally, a total of 14 parties were present despite the bloc claiming a support of 28 parties. Rahul Gandhi, a prominent leader of the Opposition Bloc and Congress leader was found absent. Party leader Jairam Ramesh cited ill health as his reason for absence. The most significant highlight of the rally were the 2 empty seats on stage for the two jailed party members.
The Ranchi rally also witnessed the presence of jailed CM Arvind Kejriwal’s wife, Sunita Kejriwal. She allegedly accused BJP of harming her diabetic husband’s life by not allowing him insulin shots and condemned the ‘dictatorship’ of the BJP led Central government.
Speaking in favor of Hemant Soren, Mallickarjun Kharge remarked, “Hemant Soren’s imprisonment was a result of his steadfastness with the INDIA bloc. His courage shines through as he opted for jail time over capitulation. Should the BJP continue its intimidation of tribal groups, it risks facing extinction.”
AAP leader Sanjay Singh also called out BJP in the rally, comparing him to Osama Bin Laden and Gabbar Singh. “Narendra Modi speaks against corruption. He put Hemant Soren, Arvind Kejriwal in jail under false accusations. When he speaks on corruption, it looks as if Osama Bin Laden and Gabbar Singh are preaching non-violence. A Modi washing powder has come which cleans all your corruptions,” he said. RJD leaders Tejashwi Yadav and Akhilesh Yadav didn’t fail to seize the opportunity to condemn BJP. They asserted that the 10 year ‘Modi-Shah’ rule will come to an end soon.
In another comment made by Farooq Abdullah, he alleged BJP of playing the religion card to garner votes. He said, “They are appropriating Lord Ram, suggesting they exclusively brought him forth. However, they lack true understanding of Lord Ram’s universal significance. He transcends any single religion; he belongs to the entire world. While they claim ownership of Ram, they fail to grasp His universal essence.”
Along with this, a violent clash broke out between the party workers of RJD and Congress. They engaged in physical confrontations, throwing chairs and sticks. The security failed to control the crowd resulting in multiple workers sustaining injuries.
