Fans are questioning why, in such close calls where it’s difficult to determine if the ball bounced before or after the rope, a referral to the third umpire wasn’t made. They argue that had this been done, the outcome might have been different for RCB.

Contrary to some claims, the on-field umpires did consult the third umpire regarding the decision, although it was a swift process. The third umpire promptly concluded that the ball had indeed bounced before reaching the rope, resulting in only 4 runs being awarded.

RCB’s agonising defeat

This incident came on the heels of a controversial moment involving RCB’s Virat Kohli, who contested an umpire’s decision after being given out on a full toss. Kohli was insistent that it was a no-ball and called for a review. However, it was later confirmed that he had strayed from his crease at the time of delivery.

Despite impressive half-centuries from Will Jacks and Rajat Patidar, RCB fell agonizingly short by just one run. Jacks scored a quick 55 off 32 balls, while Patidar contributed a rapid 52 from 23 deliveries. However, their efforts weren’t enough to chase down KKR’s formidable target of 223.
