President feeds FM Dahi Cheeni
Moments ahead of presenting the Budget 2024-25, President Droupadi Murmu, in a gesture of good luck and well wishes, fed dahi cheeni to Nirmala Sitharaman, Union Minister of Finance and Corporate Affairs, at the Rashtrapati Bhavan.
Dahi Cheeni is an age-old tradition in Indian culture that symbolises goodwill and prosperity. It is often done as an auspicious beginning before starting anything new. The President, offering Niramala Sitharaman, a spoonful of sweet curd received a lot of love from the public.

The ceremony also had many senior officials including Ministers of State Dr Bhagwat Kishanrao Karad and Pankaj Chaudhary and other figures of power from the Ministry of Finance at the Rashtrapati Bhavan in attendance.
The President, Droupadi Murmu, in a post, shared from her handle on X, wrote that The President was called at the Rashtrapati Bhavan by The Union Minister of Finance and Corporate Affairs Smt Nirmala Sitharaman, Ministers of State – Dr Bhagwat Kishanrao Karad and Shri Pankaj Chaudhary and other senior officials of the Ministry of Finance before presenting the Union Budge.

With the post, President Murmu also shared some captures of the event where she is shot delightfully feeding dahi-cheeni to Sitharaman before the mammoth and monumental task of presenting the annual Budget.

Sitharaman: The woman in focus
India’s Finance Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman disclosed the Budget for the year 2024-25, delineating the expenses and allocations of the funds from the Indian coffers in the Lok Sabha, today, on 1st February 2024.
Being the sixth Budget presentation for Sitharaman, she is in charge for handling and enhancing the economy of the world’s largest democracy which is growing at a phenomenal rate. Nirmala leads the count for presenting the most number of Union Budgets consecutively!

This Budget is an interim Budget, which would soon be replaced by a more comprehensive one for the financial year 2024–25 (April 2024 to March 2025), after the General Elections and the forming of the newly elected government.
