According to officials on February 4, the Thane Police have registered Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Ganpat Gaikwad under the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. Gaikwad is accused of shooting and injuring Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde faction) leader Mahesh Gaikwad inside a police station in Ulhasnagar.
Three-time legislator Mr. Ganpat Gaikwad of the Kalyan East seat fired six shots at Kalyan Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) leader Mr. Mahesh Gaikwad late on Friday night, wounded the latter’s friend, Rahul Patil, ostensibly over a property dispute. The MLA and seven other people have reportedly been arrested by the Hill Line Police based on a complaint that was submitted on Saturday by a Dwarli village resident under the provisions of the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act and the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The complainant claims that on January 31, Mr. Ganpat Gaikwad and the others mistreated her based on her caste. This information was reported to the police.
MLA Ganpat Gaikwad is detained for shooting a Shiv Sena leader
At Ulhasnagar, Maharashtra’s Hill Line Police Station, MLA Ganpat Gaikwad was taken into custody by the police on Saturday for reportedly shooting Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde faction) leader Mahesh Gaikwad. It was stated that five gunshots wounded Gaikwad and one of his supporters. At the police station, senior inspector Anil Jagtap was present when the incident happened during a discussion between BJP MLA Ganpat Gaikwad and city leader Mahesh Gaikwad.
After suffering serious injuries in the assault, the Shiv Sena leader is being treated at Thane’s Jupiter Hospital by medical professionals. Hesh Gaikwad and Ganpat Gaikwad went to the police station to complain since they couldn’t agree on anything. After they had a conversation, Ganpat Gaikwad opened fire on Mahesh Gaikwad and his followers. This has resulted in two people getting hurt. A formal inquiry is under progress,” DCP Sudhakar Pathare declared. The Ulhasnagar fire incident has resulted in the arrest of three individuals, one of whom is BJP MLA Ganpat Gaikwad. DCP Pathare stated, “There were six rounds of firing,” according to ANI.
However, Anand Dubey, the head of the Shiv Sena (UBT), criticized the state administration, declaring: “This fire has happened within the police station. A bullet was fired at Shiv Sena Shinde Faction leader Mahesh Gaikwad, and BJP MLA Ganpat Gaikwad opened fire. Regretfully, an MLA who ought to be working for the well-being of thousands of people is murdering individuals. There is violence and attempted murder between the heads of two parties in the three-engine government.
BJP MLA explains why he shot Shiv Sena leader: “Eknath Shinde made me a criminal”
Shiv Sena leader Mahesh Gaikwad was shot by Maharashtra BJP MLA Ganpat Gaikwad, who blamed Chief Minister Eknath Shinde for the event. Before his arrest on Friday, Ganpat Gaikwad remarked over the phone with a television channel that Eknath Shinde “made me a criminal”. “My son was manhandled at the police station and my land was forcibly taken from me,” the BJP MLA from Kalyan East Ganpat stated in the audio recording of the phone call that went viral following the event. All we shall witness is an increase in criminal activity if Eknath Shinde remains the Chief Minister of Maharashtra. He has turned me from a decent guy to a criminal today.”
Police said that 10 shots were fired, despite Ganpat Gaikwad’s allegation that he only fired five. The land issue that gave rise to the event was settled in court. The land was reportedly forcibly taken by Mahesh Gaikwad.
To voice their complaints over the land, the MLA, Ganpat Gaikwad, his son, and others went to the police station. Based on CCTV video of the event, BJP MLA Datta Shinde claimed that the incident was a self-defense scenario. However, no disagreement or provocation occurred.
However, Ganpat Gaikwad pointed and fired at them,” Shinde remarked. The senior police officer further stated that 10 rounds of ammunition were shot, and six bullets were extracted from Mahesh Gaikwad’s body at Jupiter Hospital in Thane, according to an initial investigation. Four teams were created by the police to locate others after they detained Ganpat Gaikwad, Harshal Kene (34), and Sandeep Sarwankar . They have been charged under sections 307 (attempt to kill) and 120B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code.
