US President Joe Biden is all set to visit the war stricken Israel on Wednesday prioritizing a humanitarian plan for Gaza and extending support for Israel in response to the terror attacks last week as stated by Secretary of State Antony Blinken. Israeli PM Benjamim Netanyahu, a close aide of US President over decades, has invited him for diplomatic talks, with the Ismael-Hamas war entering the 11th day. The US President will also be visiting Jordan, meeting Kind Abdullah II, President Abdel Fattah el-sisi of Egypt, and Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas.
A clear indication to stop the conflict from extending outside of Israel’s border and engaging with region’s strongmen leaders like Iran, Turkey, Lebanon and Egypt. However, reports suggested that almost 2,000 US troopers prepared for non-combat roles in support of Israel after a first hostage video was also released by Hamas today showing a 21 year old, Mia Schem being aided with for a shoulder injury.
Israel prepares for a ground attack on the Gaza Strip, already under complete blockade and bombarded with unheard of air strikes. Aids from across the Arab nations are idled across the Gaza borders as shortage of water, food, and medicine escalates. More than a 500,000 of the 1.1 million people have left Gaza in the last 48 hours as reported by Israel.
On October 7, Hamas attacked a music festival in Israel where thousands were gathered for a rave in desert, killing more than 1,400 people. In retaliation, there have been close to 2,700 fatalities in Gaza. Israel’s stated objective is to eliminate Hamas. It also desires the release of the hostages taken during the Israeli attack by Hamas. It has increased its earlier estimate of 155 prisoners in Gaza to 199, according to the organization. Along with tanks and artillery, Israel has gathered tens of thousands of soldiers at its borders with Gaza.
The Israel Gaza conflict dates back to 1948 when the Jew community was promised a permanent land in return for their World War services by the colonial powers. However, Gaza was captured by Israel in the Six Day war in 1967. A year after returning it to the Palestinians in 2005, Israel established an air, land and sea embargo on the 140 square mile strip of land. Egypt and the Mediterranean Sea also border the area.
