14th Feb: Celebration of Love
The month of February is as closely linked with the celebration of love as the month of december is associated with rejoicing Christmas. As February settles in the calendar, all focus shifts to the 14th date, The Valentine’s Day, marking a profession and commemoration of love and romantic spirits.
On the contrasting end, the carousal of the 14th is viewed with anguish, disappointment, melancholy and loneliness among people who are single or just come out of a relationship.
The valentine’s vivacity could be overwhelming for people who aren’t fond of the elaborate gestures of endearment or for people who don’t have anyone to share the significance of the day with, thus bringing in resentment for single people out there.
Valentine’s Week/ Anti-Valentine’s Week
To reply to the celebration of love, a special week has been dedicated exactly after Valentine’s for people to detoxify from the flood of love in the Valentine’s week.
The Valentine’s day, is further extended to become a week long celebration including days like – Rose Day on 7 Feb, Propose Day on 8 Feb, Chocolate Day on 9 Feb, Teddy Day on Feb 10, Promise Day on Feb 11, Hug Day on Feb 12, and Kiss Day on Feb 13.
Couples indulge in these seven lovey-dovey days, spending on gifts, flowers, food and flooding the social media with their adorable captures, much to a single person’s irk. All these days slowly build up the excitement leading to the D-Day – Valentine’s day on 14th.
From 15th Feb, starts Anti-Valentine’s Week which consists of 7 days of anti-love sentiments, to counterbalance the swamp of love in the previous days and to give single people some respite.
Anti-Valentine’s Week, starting on 15th with Slap, goes on to Kick Day on February 16, Perfume Day on February 17, Flirt Day on February 18, Confession Day on February 19, Missing Day on February 20, and Breakup Day on February 21.
Slap Day – February 15
The first day, interestingly titled Slap Day, is for slapping your exes who hurt you or cheated on you, obviously, preferred in metaphorical aspect. This day is full of revenge vibe on all the mental stress and pain they gave you.
You ought to also push away all the little reminders of them, physical or in memory that caused you to endure suffering. Its a day to channel your inner frustration and move past the trauma you’ve held.
Kick Day – February 16
The second day, similar to Slap day is Kick Day. On 16th February, you (appreciated if its metaphorical) kick your ex from your life along with the past troubles and sorrows that you are carrying, thanks to them. Knock out all the memories, despair and everything that reminds you of them.
Perfume Day – February 17
This day is all about self-love. Go out, roam the streets, add some fragrance in your life…literally and purchase that perfume you’ve had your eyes on.
Sprinkle freshness, aroma, positivity and self-care on 17th Feb by treating yourself well and inhaling only sweetness.
Flirt Day – February 18
The fourth day in the Anti-Valentine’s Week is Flirt day. This day, on 18th February is to be celebrated by bringing out and confessing the deep seated feelings you hold for your crush.
Taking risk, approach your long-time eye candy and try your hand at expressing yourself.
This day opens up opportunities to finally asking out your sweetie in that way you had been planning since weeks and kept backing out from apprehension.
Confession Day – February 19
Go out and confess your feelings to the person you like on February 19th, the fifth day of the Anti-Valentine’s Week.
You’ve been single for a long time and it would keep prevailing if you don’t avail opportunities to admit and confess your romance.
This day isn’t just about romance, its a day to confess all that you have been holding in your heart for too long – be it the reason someone hurt you or apologising to your friend for a mistake or admitting that someone isn’t worth your friendship or even revealing a prank you’ve been charading so long.
Missing Day – February 20
On this day, gather up all your feelings for the person who is absent from your life and tell them how much you miss them and the impact they have on your life.
Remove the sadness associated on this day and replace it by finally connecting to people who you have felt distanced with in a long time.
Breakup Day – February 21
The last day of Anti-Valentine’s Week is the most intense of all. Schedule your break ups with someone you find toxic and let all your excuses exhaust on this day.
Let february 21 be the day you rescue and release yourself from the binds of a bad, sparkless relationship that had debilitated and holds no scope of healing. Rip the band-aid off and chase your freedom.
