Ministers excluded from Modi’s Cabinet 3.0
A total of 37 ministers have dropped from functioning under Modi’s leadership for his third term. Out of these, 18 of them had to give up their portfolios because of losing the Lok Sabha elections. From this list, some prominent names were the heavyweight union cabinet ministers from Modi’s 2nd government – Smriti Irani (former Minister of Women and Child Development), Anurag Thakur(former Minister of Sports) and Narayan Rane (former Minister of MSMEs).
Ms Irani left the ministry due to her loss at the general elections. She contested from UP’s Amethi and lost by 1.6 lakh votes to Congress loyalist Kishori Lal Sharma. In contrast, Thakur and Rane have won the Lok Sabha seats from their respective constituencies of Himachal Pradesh’s Hamirpur and Maharashtra’s Ratnagiri-Sindhudurg.
Rajeev Chandrasekhar, who lost to Shashi Tharoor in a close contest, is also missing from the new government.
