Influencer Andrew Tate’s petition to loosen judicial control restrictions during his ongoing legal case—in which he is accused of rape, human trafficking, and organizing a criminal gang to sexually abuse women—was denied by a Romanian court on Tuesday.
The Bucharest Court of Appeal’s decision supported a judgment rendered on January 18 by a different court that prolonged Tate’s 37-year-old territorial limitations by 60 days and stipulated that he was not allowed to leave the nation.
Over a year after being initially detained in the vicinity of Bucharest with his brother Tristan and two Romanian ladies, Tate’s appeal was denied.
All four were formally charged by Romanian authorities in June of last year, although they have refuted the accusations. The case is currently at the preliminary chamber stages when the defendants have the opportunity to refute the evidence and case file presented by the prosecution. There is no definite date for the trial.
With 8.7 million followers on social media site X, Andrew Tate has made it clear time and time again that he believes there is a political plot to suppress him, and that the prosecution lacks any proof against him. He has already been banned from several well-known social media sites for using hate speech and expressing sexist opinions.
Andrew Tate shows up in a Romanian court
A Romanian court heard the appearance of social media figure Andrew Tate, who is well-known for his sexist online remarks. At the court in Bucharest, the capital of Romania, the former professional kickboxer and his brother Tristan, who was also accused, entered accompanied by six bodyguards. In a succinct statement, Tate, 36, said he was being “unfairly attacked” and denied any wrongdoing.
Prosecutors have also brought accusations in this instance against two Romanian women. The four defendants allegedly created a criminal organization in 2021 “in order to commit the crime of human trafficking” in Romania, the US, and the UK, according to Romania’s anti-organized crime agency.
The agency claimed that after being tricked and flown to Romania, the gang physically and sexually abused the seven female victims. The agency claims that one defendant is suspected of raping a lady twice in March 2022. Tate’s brother is a dual citizen of the United States and Great Britain. Mateea Petrescu, Tate’s spokeswoman, stated on Tuesday that the two were ready to “prove their innocence and uphold their reputation.”
Andrew Tate’s romeoo method
Romanian court rejected Andrew Tate‘s appeals to ease judicial restrictions on him, who was charged with human trafficking, rape, and forming a criminal gang to sexually exploit women.
His brother Tristian Tate and two other Romanian women are also facing charges. The brothers are under house arrest, restricted to Bucharest Municipality & Ilfov County, and cannot leave the country while awaiting trial.
Tate, a kickboxer-turned-influencer, built a social media empire, espousing sexist, misogynist, and abusive views against women. In August 2022, he was banned from Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube for violating terms of service.
Romanian Anti-Organized Crime Agency DIICOT accuses the Tates of using the Loverboy Method, also known as the Romeo Method, to recruit women for prostitution or online sex websites.
The Tates, who have been in Romania since 2017, have alleged no evidence and a political conspiracy to silence him. The case is still in the preliminary chamber stages, with the defendants having the opportunity to challenge the prosecution’s evidence and case file.
The Tates are accused of forming an organized crime group in early 2021, targeting victims to create explicit content for websites like Only Fans. A trial date has not been set.
