The Congress stated on Wednesday that its leaders would not be present for the consecration ceremony of Lord Ram’s idol on January 22, calling the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya “incomplete” and claiming that the event had been scheduled for political purposes.
The Congress said in a statement that the Ayodhya temple was a “political project” of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The Congress called the massive consecration ceremony a “RSS/BJP event” in a letter that was posted on its official X account.
Not to Go to the Ram Temple Consecration Ceremony
Leading members of the Congress party, such as Mallikarjun Kharge, the party president, Sonia Gandhi, the previous leader of the House, and Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, have respectfully refused the invitation to attend the rampart consecration event.
According to a party statement released on Wednesday, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and other prominent figures, such as former President Sonia Gandhi and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, would not be present for the Ram idol consecration ceremony scheduled for Ayodhya on January 22.
On the other hand, the Ayodhya temple has been turned into a “political project” by the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), according to the ancient party. In our country, millions of people worship Lord Ram. It’s personal what one believes in. The Ayodhya temple, however, has long been a political initiative for the RSS/BJP. The statement stated, “It is clear that the BJP and RSS leaders’ unveiling of the unfinished temple was done to boost their political careers.”
“They Were As Crazy As Ravana”: BJP Responds
The BJP has criticized Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge, Sonia Gandhi, and Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury for declining invitations to the consecration ceremony at the Ram temple in Ayodhya, comparing it to Ravana’s “Treta Yug.” The Congress has officially stated its senior leaders will not attend the January 22 ceremony, citing the Congress’s failure to ensure the existence of a Ram temple in Ayodhya over the past few decades.
The Congress has declined the invitation to the Ram temple trust in Ayodhya, a popular pilgrimage site for Lord Ram, a religious event that has been criticized by the opposition party, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). BJP MP Manoj Tiwari expressed surprise over the invitations, stating that those who never wanted the construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya and even filed an affidavit in court calling Lord Ram an imaginary figure had lost their minds.
The Congress’ allegation that the ceremony is an event of the BJP and the RSS is an excuse, as the Congress would have been there out of their affection for Lord Ram and to share the excitement of millions of Indians. The Congress’s refusal to attend the consecration ceremony is seen as a “politics of hatred” by the opposition INDIA bloc.
